Complications Due To Kidney Stones

The stones formed in kidney has a size that is varied, ranging from the size of a grain of sand up to pebbles or larger. The surface of the stone also varied. Some types of kidney stones have a smooth surface, while the other has an uneven surface. Large stones can irritate to injure the urinary tract when traversed by kidney stones. Kidney stones can also be trapped in the urinary tract and impede the flow of urine so that the risk of kidney infection (pyelonephritis) will increase. Infection in the kidney can result in the spread of bacteria and other microorganisms into the blood. In addition, kidney stones can also cause permanent damage to the kidneys.

The type of therapy as well as the location of the kidney stones will affect the kind of complications that arise. Some of which are

1. Sepsis. Bacteria and microorganisms contained in the kidneys can pass into the bloodstream and cause infection. The symptoms will arise in the whole body.

3. Injury to the ureter
4. Bleeding due to surgery
